If you’re one of the tens of millions of hardworking people wondering why your $10K or $20K student loan forgiveness is on hold, here’s why.

A GOP plaintiff—who himself had $48K in PPP loans forgiven—is suing because he only got only $10K—not $20K—in student loan forgiveness.🤦🏽‍♂️ So he’s suing to burn it all down. The GOP hypocrisy and war on working people is truly a thing to behold.

And this is why we can’t have nice things. Smh.

@QasimRashid what a horrendously bad idea the student loan bailout is.

Spending tax dollars to pay off the student loans of upper class and upper middle class Americans is shameless.

Let's hope it never gets through the courts.

@BeegyPsi @QasimRashid The student loan relief is intended for low- to middle-income borrowers.

Where are you getting your "upper class and upper middle class" info?

FACT SHEET: President Biden Announces Student Loan Relief for Borrowers Who Need It Most | The White House

A three-part plan delivers on President Biden’s promise to cancel $10,000 of student debt for low- to middle-income borrowers President Biden believes

The White House

@WrenegadeW @QasimRashid

The white house considers people making "up to $125,000 / year" to be low income. 😂

By definition, if you have a degree, you're already in the top 40% of the most privileged people in the wealthiest country in history.

@BeegyPsi @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid you don't seem to understand the meaning of "up to". The loans for those making LESS than that amount would be the ones forgiven.

@AnaKaye @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid

I understand exactly what "up to" means.

Thanks for attempting to help with my english comprehension.

That said, I'd encourage you to reread and reconsider.

I'll repeat: an engineer with a STARTING salary that is TWICE the national average for TOTAL salaries (not just starting) will have their loans paid off by plumbers, teachers, baristas and construction workers.

It's not that difficult to understand.

@BeegyPsi @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid you still don't understand. The person making $30K will ALSO get their loans paid off. That's what UP TO means. You're only focusing on the top of the range and ignoring everyone below that level. Not to mention that some of the people you mentioned make more than that upper limit (plumbers can make damn good money).

Get a clue.

@AnaKaye @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid

No no, I definitely understand every single one of your talking points.

You think people deserve a handout, and your defense is that others have gotten one before this.

It's fine to disagree, but if you want to be a rude cunt, then you do you I guess. I don't think national policy is going to be decided based out this particular thread, so no real loss.

I guess I'll go find myself that clue...

@BeegyPsi @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid So now it's about "handouts" rather than your faux concern over teachers, baristas, or anyone else helping engineers *and each other* get out from under crushing debt. At least you're being honest this time.

You clearly don't want anyone to be helped, because "handouts". I'd ask how you feel about handouts to wealthy people and corporations, but I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to that.

@AnaKaye @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid

No no, please tell me how I feel about handouts for corporations.

There was never any "faux concern". You continue to argue with personal attacks. Like a child.

But to be clear, yes, I very much view this as a handout. Not only a handout, but a handout funded by the working class to pay for the education of the white collared wealthy. It is a handout. Period.

@BeegyPsi @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid I'm not the one being childish. You don't seem to grasp that many, MANY people in the working class have student loans and struggle to pay them. Most people who have student loans don't make a lot of money, and the way the loans are structured guarantee these people will remain deeply in debt for most of not all of their lives. What's your solution to this?

@BeegyPsi @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid Also, the idea that everyone with a degree is wealthy is ridiculous. The idea that white-collar jobs all have high pay is equally ridiculous.

You have a grossly oversimplified view of the world, which is a very childish trait. Have you ever heard the term "projection"?

@AnaKaye @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid

Governance isn't about corner cases. It's about doing the most good for the most people. Statistically speaking, you're talking nonsense.

You continue with ad hominem attacks. This will be my last reply.

How Many Americans Have a College Degree? | BestColleges

About 42% of Americans age 25 and older hold some type of college degree, with wide disparities when it comes to geography and racial and ethnic groups.

@BeegyPsi @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid averages don't work the way you appear to think they do. Pointing out facts is not an ad hominem attack. You simply happen to be wrong in virtually everything you have stated on this subject. That isn't an attack, it's merely an objective observation.

@AnaKaye @WrenegadeW @QasimRashid

The solution is easy: people should be held responsible for the loans they choose to take on. That's what it means to be an adult in the real world.
