#Elon didn't buy a company that doesn't make money to make money. He bought it because Twitter has nearly 400 million active users and turning it into a far right echo chamber is an investment in building the kind of world Elon Musk wants to force onto all of us.

The worst case scenario is Twitter limps along, shedding users and getting buggier but not enough for the even larger passive user base to realize that their feed is becoming increasingly right wing as Left voices are purged and the algorithm is turned into a dark mirror version of the very thing conservatives claimed to be against in the first place.

Every accusation is a confession.

Why get people to download Parler when you can just turn an app with a huge built in user base into Parler instead?

@Crowpotkin People might be too young to remember Geocities, jaiku, and dozens of websites that grew, thrived and then imploded. Twitter users will abandon ship. Look at how dead Facebook is.

Elon bought twitter with Saudi money because it was an organizing platform for social malcontents they wanted shut down

@Crowpotkin I don't think he bought it intentionally, I think he bought it because he was tryna big dick shitpost and got sued into actually following through with something he had no intention of doing because the owners of twitter finally had an opportunity to finally cash out and elon had shitposted his way into being that out because they knew they were NEVER getting any 44bn out of twitter

the nazi shit is just him trying desperately to appeal to his fanboys in the hopes that it gets him money, but it won't, and it can't, because they're all a bunch of broke losers trying to live vicariously through some random weirdo rich asshole

Otherwise I mostly agree though.

@FarmingWarMech @Crowpotkin Absolutely. Buying twitter was not the goal, the goal was stock market manipulation which he has a history of doing. The resulting tantrum is an attempt to maintain his image as a genius with his fanbase

@FarmingWarMech @Crowpotkin His plan was clearly poorly thought through, but I think that plan was much as Crowpotkin describes.

Muskrat did sign a contract for $44 billion, after all. He was apparently amazingly reckless in negotiating the contract, then tried to back out of it. But it was his idea.
