Unbelievable except not. The most delusional people in US politics are "centrists" in denial about GOP radicalism https://twitter.com/ThePlumLineGS/status/1598293545500147715

“A bad sign: Even as Republicans openly threaten debt limit extortion next year, pessimism is mounting that Dems will disable it during the lame duck. Aides tell me they're skeptical Manchin and Sinema will do this in reconcilation, because it's "partisan." https://t.co/sghf1OAOFm”

@pkrugman I think it's much too charitable to attribute Sinemanchin's motivations to "centrism." Neither is that stupid.

@pkrugman This includes many voters--including my Boomer father. He'll never vote R again in his life, but he's completely in denial about GOP radicalism. He thinks it was all just Trump--and now that Trump's gone, we can go back to normal.

Nothing I say can convince him otherwise.

@pkrugman Manchin is about Manchin. He loves the attention. If anything gets done, it will because Murkowski wants it done.
@pkrugman Maybe it means they are prepared to take the 14th Amendment route on the debt limit.
@pkrugman FYI, I'm stealing this quote for my next banner, sometime today.
@pkrugman The underpinning of centrist status quo is aggressively supported by news media that continue to report issues as if the Republicans are anything other than an extremist group. As if the word 'conservative' still applies to them.
