Interns: an internship is not guarenteed employment when the internship ends.

Also your getting an offer for employment does not always reflect upon you or your performance. (It can, but not always)

At best it’s a long, paid, job interview.

At worst (ideally) it’s real world experience that school cannot teach you. Your entire experience - not just the project you work on - is the lesson.

It’s not a guarentee for employment or career. It never was and never will be.

Over the last few years we have had an increasing number of interns who ghost their last few weeks after finding out they didn’t get hired full time.

I had multiple interns ask me “If you didn’t have an open position for me why did you have an internship?” “You just wasted my time!”

I am not sure why this attitude is increasing for us.

I was wondering if others made the same observations?

And to be clear, we pay our interns a similar salary they would get if hired full time, pay for temporary relocation, etc. it’s very big deal we treat our interns well at my company.

That is one of the reasons why I love it here.

But the one thing we cannot do is guarentee employment after internship.
