As one of the recent #twitter #diaspora, I originally thought I'd have this as a lifeboat temporarily, since so many I follow were there still and I could mute the Nazis so I didn't see them. And my adblock blocked ads, so I didn't see ads.

But now adblock no longer blocks cheapo lovely ladies ads or crypto ads - even in threads right under some academics' initial post as if they would choose to put up such ads - yuckkk. Don't want that stuck on mine!

Finding now this is my go to, not that.

@SusanKraemer

First of all welcome all the way from NZ!

I used to think of Mastodon as a lifeboat also, but have since come to enjoy it here. Mastodon is far superior with new tools and nice people.

This seems to get better and the bird won't.

@PerryM Thank you.

Of course it's easier to be nice when you know you have two entire paragraphs to make even the most leisurely point in.

Yes, it's definitely not a lifeboat now. It's becoming the actual ship. I just wish academic orgs, scientific sites, government agencies, public orgs, watchdog groups, etc would realize this is where they belong, not on commerce sites like fb or twitter
