I would say this is as good as I can hope for a month of gaming. All the games we played in November, AMA.
@BoardgameSPAM had you played FitL before? Also, which scenario?
@gpage that was our first play (first COIN game actually) we played the medium scenario and really enjoyed it. It took quite a bit to internalize the rules, but we had it by the end. We are all excited to play again.
@BoardgameSPAM ah, neato. It's my favorite out of the series. The medium is ambitious for a first play. We're folks familiar with the conflict or what was the rationale?
@gpage it's definitely a subject we are all more familiar with/interested in, and it was for a friend's birthday. He requested the medium scenario. I was a bit hesitant but am glad we did that instead of the short one. I think the short one would feel like we would end without really feeling like we were playing.
@BoardgameSPAM excellent, glad it worked out! I played the medium scenario a lot for a few years before we figured out the cadence of our group and how to budget time for the long game. I sadly only get to play at conventions anymore, most of my original group that played has moved away. I've thought about doing PBEM games again, should have during peak COVID but was always busy. The COIN games generally work that way due to their turn structure.
@gpage it definitely requires the right group. I think this group wants to explore FitL as well as other COIN games further. I consider myself lucky.
@BoardgameSPAM heh, yeah. We played a bunch of games of Gandhi years ago and that's when I realized that the folks who were moving away soon were the ones excited about COIN and the remaining folks were basically not. I could put together a table, but I just haven't had the scheduling success yet (two are docs, one is a teacher. They are great people, but it's painful to schedule stuff with those three...)
