Just a reminder, Spotify users, that your money goes further if you buy the music you love from the actual artists.

Merch Table will convert your Spotify playlists into links to their bandcamp pages:

Buy music from your Spotify playlists on Bandcamp

@signalstation
This is great! Thanks for the tip.
@signalstation Yeah. Spotify is great but I do like to actually buy the music when I can.
@signalstation good call. Bandcamp puts the cash where it belongs, with the content creators
@signalstation
This is very much true. Abney Park's lead singer talked about how much they get from things like Pandora and Spotify, and it's damn near literal pennies. If you go to their web page and buy direct, it helps them a hell of a lot more.
@signalstation with the added benefit that the music you were listening to doesn’t just suddenly disappear overnight, or have the tracks altered.
@signalstation
i think you meant to say, "more of your money goes"
i'll never give up Spotify, but i will *additionally* give money directly to artists i love and support
Spotify will one day be one of the seven wonders of the ancient Internet, its faded online ruins visited by virtual tourists, their virtual eyes agog
@signalstation Awesome! I hated Spotify, then I loved it, now I'm right in-between. It's so damn useful and on the other hand such a shitshow for the artists...

@Laracoa

I was in the same boat. Really liked it for discovery of new music.

I found, though, that Tidal is a practically identical product and has a better rep, so I made the switch.

@signalstation Oh, thank you for the recommendation! I'll have a look into that Tidal thingy then! Actually, it definitely has the cooler name! 😁
@signalstation also, for artists who might not sell their music on a DRM-free digital platform, just pirate their music and buy at least a single piece of merch from them, and they’ll probably have made more money than you’d ever make them by listening on Spotify..
@signalstation make it easier for everyone Kat.to

@signalstation I know how much Spotify sucks but buying music tends to be expensive 🥲

I try to do it when I really like a small artist's stuff but a lot of the time I just can't afford it

@signalstation this is great, I was looking for something like this for a while. Though I must say that my go-to playlist with 400+ songs probably won't be cheap to buy..
@signalstation @liamlevesque another option that does a similar thing, with more of a dance music focus (links out to beatport as well as bandcamp)

An app to help you buy your Spotify favourites

@signalstation I collect CDs, but for quite a few artists I was unable to find one, as they distribute just on-line :/

@PCzanik

Time to bring back the lost art of CD-burning?

@signalstation I cannot burn a CD, if a music is only on TIDAL / Spotify. Well, OK, maybe I could, but I'm quite proud that my collection finally only contains music I officially bought, not just copied...

@PCzanik

Yeah, I don't get artists who only stream, but what are you gonna do.

@signalstation oh nice, i'd never heard of this before. I do sometimes use spotify to try stuff out but I prefer to buy my favorites and have them available offline
@signalstation and tomorrow Dec 2 is #bandcampFriday = all proceeds go to the artist. $10 to the artist=2-3k streams.
@signalstation just a reminder : we (customers, listeners) are not responsible for the way the industry distributes the music of the artists
