Today is Bo Jackson's 60th birthday; the greatest athlete I ever saw.

Here's the story of how his now iconic Nike ad campaign -- you know, Bo Knows -- came to be:

@joshsternberg As a kid I got to meet Bo Jackson because my dad owned an indoor batting cage business in Overland Park, KS, and the KC Royals would come and train their in the off season. My dad has several of Bo's broken bats in his display now. When Bo was hitting, all the other pros stopped and watched. The ball just sounded different coming off his bat.
@improvisingnate man, that's so cool. being able to watch him practice must have been a thrill.
@joshsternberg We had this one pitching tunnel and right next to it on the left was a wall. On the other side of that wall was the parking lot. The wall was a thick cement wall with metal siding. He'd pull the ball so hard it would slam that wall and the sound was so loud. Bill Pecota was watching and said, "I better go move my car." 🤣
@improvisingnate amazing!! i still remember seeing him at yankee stadium and just being wowed. i was 7. the next time i felt that way was 4 year later when i saw griffey jr play. we were so lucky to get to watch all the greatness.
