I created three new Milwaukee-centric custom emojis on here.

Milwaukee:
Wisconsin:
Summerfest:

The #Wisconsin flag doesn't work great as an emoji. (The middle bit is too detailed.). The #Milwaukee one and the #Summerfest one seem to work, though.

I added three more emojis over lunch. 😁

#MSOE:
#MATC:
#UWM:

Hopefully this helps #Milwaukee mastodon, a little.

@joe So can I just use them? :uwm: How does that work?
@joe Looks like I just see *colon word colon* on my end.

@rasterweb Yeah, it looks like if your instance supports the emoji, It will work for users on that instance. If you run your own instance, you can green light the emojis. If you don't, you will have to ask permission from your admin. I'm kind of hoping that over time, instance admins see the new emoji and green light them? (I'm still not 100% sure how all of this works)

There is a central repository for these emojis and admins can approve from there.

@rasterweb I also added , and  to it, today.

The toot.works emoji game is on-point!

@joe How does namespace collision work?
@rasterweb You can't use a shortcode that the system already knows about. For instance, I wanted to use "starwars" for  but since  already existed, I couldn't. There are something like 35 pages of emoji that you can copy local and a lot of duplicates that just have slightly different shortcodes.
@rasterweb *correction:* 360 pages of emoji that you can copy local.
