A century of COVID-19: what history tells us about the long-term effects of a pandemic

USC research showed that people born during the 1918 flu pandemic faced increased heart disease risk. COVID-19's legacy could be worse.

@augieray I ask why no one after all this time has developed a mask that is truly effective and an acceptable design for the public
@RADC I am not sure what that means. You are asking for two different things--effective masks tend to be bulky and less acceptable, while masks the public wants are often next to useless. The question should be why we haven't made the use of N95-like masks (which tend to be comfortable and effective) more socially acceptable.
@augieray My point is simple Design “something else”
@RADC I'm no expert on mask design, but people rave about the 3M Aura, so I think the mask you want already exists. Still, you have to appreciate you've asked for two mutually exclusive things--effectiveness and comfort/acceptability. I want a fast sports car and I want it cheap--but what I should do is focus on the cars I can afford that balance my needs. Same is true with masks. They're out there already. https://www.health.com/condition/infectious-diseases/coronavirus/3m-aura-niosh-approved-n95-mask-review
The 3M Aura N95 Mask Is the Most Comfortable Respirator I've Tried

One Health writer says the NIOSH-approved 3M Aura N95 Mask is the most comfortable respirator she owns. Soft and lightweight, this N95's domed shape and three-layer paneling makes it breathable enough to wear all day and even at the gym. Shop it on Amazon while it's still in stock.
