Re-sharing this thread for the morning crew, not sure whether that is needed over here, but I feel a bit demoralised that my adventures in air frying are getting more attention than human rights abuses of #autistic people and people with a #LearningDisability

This thread looks at two care homes rated inadequate by the CQC (the English #Healthcare regulator) at the same time as the organisation were collecting an award for their supposed specialist care #SocialCare

@GeorgeJulian Sorry George, I couldn’t care less about your air frying. Keep up the rest of your good work. #SocialCare #Autistic #LearningDisability (CamelCase with the # makes them intelligible to screen readers).
@pawsforthought 😂 👊 that’s my annoying autocorrect, will edit, thanks.
@GeorgeJulian @pawsforthought I looked at links to special interest groups but couldn't see #LearningDisability or #SocialCare mentioned. This might change as more people move to Mastodon. My twitter app is repeatedly malfunctioning this morning.

@lizjesslinworld @pawsforthought there's https://learningdisability.social/public set up by @photosymbols but most people seem to have only a handful of posts, I guess people coming to have a look and not really using it yet. Am sure like you say more people interested in #LearningDisability and #Autism will arrive over time.

I feel dirty even going to Twitter these days, am avoiding mostly altho some work commitments require it still.

@GeorgeJulian @pawsforthought @photosymbols I'll have a look. My other account is on neurodifferent.me which is a new server mainly for autistic and other neurodivergent adults to talk to each other.
@lizjesslinworld interested as to why you decided to keep two separate accounts still Liz. Do you find the different servers make a difference to your experience?
@GeorgeJulian To try and keep my autistic friends, to have some anonymity when discussing autistic and MH problems. I was also interested that the server was set up for neurodivergent people which means the 'home' feed is an easy way of finding other autistic people and reading posts by them.
@lizjesslinworld thanks Liz, have you found that the two servers feel quite different? Am just intrigued because I see people talking about switching instances and wonder how much it really makes a difference. I don't know many people who are in two places so your insight is welcome :)

@GeorgeJulian It's too early to tell really. This one is much bigger and less specialised. So to me neurodifferent.me feels more like a community. And also it is new so everyone is making an effort. And I can follow the server feed.

The global feed just feels like too much.

I wonder where MPs, charities, campaigning groups and journalists will end up.

@lizjesslinworld that's interesting. This place feels different already in the few weeks since I joined. Definitely feels safer and more civil than Twitter too.
