The Electoral Count Act reforms currently in Congress would codify that state legislatures can't declare a "failed election" and overturn results.

That's exactly what Trump wanted in 2020. It could happen in 2024.

This is why we must pass these reforms during the lame-duck.

@rbreich one question I have about these reforms is whether they would also invalidate the interstate compact?

After all that could theoretically also result in a state legislature throwing the electoral votes for a state to the candidate who lost in that state, but for the exact opposite purpose.

Not that we shouldn’t pass the reforms, I just wonder if that would be a side effect or if they worded it carefully enough to avoid that.
