There are many problems with Apple's business model but reducing its advertising spend on Twitter is not an attack on free speech

Lex Fridman on Twitter

“Apple should support free speech.”

Twitter
@juddlegum the lightning connector is an attack on free speech, IMHO
@juddlegum Lex Fridman is the most annoying IDW hanger on of them all. He's a non serious person who kicks people out of his reddit if they disagree with him about anything at all.
@juddlegum
It's almost like advertisers are allowed to buy advertising where it best suits their financial interests and not just pay a "free speech" tithe to please Gumby Musk.
@juddlegum Apple wants to be associated with hip new things, not Nazis.
@juddlegum Titter is really trying to bully advertisers.
@juddlegum Folks like that keep confusing "sponsor-subsidized speech" with "free speech," as if one is entitled to the money it takes to run a public platform, whether it be a news site, a print publication or, in this case, a social media platform that has decided to jettison all forms of responsible content moderation in favor of one man's personal fickle (and increasingly dangerous) whims.
@juddlegum I don't know what Elon is so worried about, I'm sure more $8 blue check marks will more than make up for the corporate advertising he's losing. 😂

@juddlegum

Musk: "The 1st Amendment should FORCE big, powerful corporations to support objectionable speech with their ad $ -- unless it's MY company, in which case, Live Free or Die, bitches!

To call his "thinking" muddled would be an insult to mud.

@juddlegum Exactly. Deciding where you want to spend your advertising money is not attacking or suppressing free speech. But trying to force a business to support you against their will could be viewed as compelled speech, something we are also protected from.
@juddlegum Every time you see Musk tweet about free speech remember that he means “impunity for me, and arbitrary blocks for thee.”
@juddlegum One would say Apple leaving Twitter is an example of them exercising their right to expressing themselves.
@juddlegum Apple hasn't given me a penny therefore they must hate free speech. Give me a break.
@scragg0x @juddlegum now that you mention it, they haven't given me a penny either! I'm being cancelled!
@juddlegum why do the free speech people always seem to think other people should pay for their speech
@juddlegum Twitter is not about free speech. and reducing an advertisement budget to a fascist institution is an action of free speech. I see though I'm not the only one to point this out.

@juddlegum
Lex used to seem like he had potential but then he started turning into Sam Harris 2.0

Then he let #Kanye show him for a gullible, easily manipulated sophist.

Now he is pimping for #ElongatedMusk

Shame.

@juddlegum so the “intellectual dark web” misunderstands the first amendment, cool cool
@juddlegum what’s happening on Twitter isn’t free speech. It’s license to engage in harassment and hate speech and I sincerely hope Apple refuses to participate or fund it.
