@mtrkdjoyce Yes, especially if you've had a lot of experience with cavities and crowns before.
@mtrkdjoyce Everyone is different, and reacts differently. Depends on the dentist, possible sensitivity to the numbing agent, the tooth condition, etc.

@mtrkdjoyce Sort of? The local the dentist gave me kept the pain away for most of the day. But as it wore off, ow. I wasn’t at my best after the procedure. I wouldn’t have wanted to perform surgery, or preach or anything that required a lot of concentration.

Maybe that helps you decide?

@mtrkdjoyce I had a single root canal done by student dentists (was in seminary with no dental insurance). It took multiple visits, and there was soreness and pain after each visit. OTC painkillers allowed me to function, though I wouldn’t have wanted to do anything strenuous afterward. I think I mostly worked on class related reading after the various visits.

The root canal experience is different for everyone, but you should expect some soreness after - especially on biting or chewing.
Anecdotally, from my patients experiences - the vast majority return to light work (work not physical in nature) the same day
