The (fatal) problem with the Starmer approach as described is it assumes the UK can work its way - under a Labour Government - through a bit of stagnation and decline, and in the end (think 60s, before the UK joined the EEC) all will be well. But to the contrary … /1.

@AndrewPRLevi There’s another problem as well:
Many railed (correctly) about Johnson lying & debasing politics & that he would say anything for power but are now happy with Starmer saying anything for power.
This brings our whole political system into disrepute & is a reason people say all politicians are the same.
