Note: We are republishing this article, written by Ji Han (吉汉) and published 28 May 2019 by Initium Media (Hong Kong) because we believe it provides some interesting insights into what happened in China in 1989. 對於六四運動的深入理解，需要我們同時跳出這兩種敘事：既告別「知識分子中心論」、重視工人和市民的參與，同時承認「民主」的確是工人和市民參與運動的核心訴求。最關鍵的是，工人與市民所理解的「民主」，和學生、知識分子所擁抱的民主觀念有很大不同。
