I began posting on Twitter as a way to reach the people of Northwest Indiana. I don't know if Mastodon will work for the same purpose or not.

If you can see this poll, are you from Northwest Indiana or interested in the Region?

@pollak I’m down in lafayette …but I stop for bbq in the Region every drive to Chicago 🤤
@brianpowell Where do you stop at?
@pollak Mission BBQ at the Merrillville exit

@brianpowell
😬 I can't comment on the quality of their BBQ, but I don't patronize Mission BBQ because the founder/owner is a massive asshole . He's facing a felony for using the Mission BBQ "truck" to impersonate a police officer and pull people over (see image). In the past he's also pulled people over and pretended to be a police officer using his personal vehicle with flashing lights.

@brianpowell Instead of Mission BBQ, can I suggest the new CP location for Bomber's BBQ?

@pollak when did that spot open up? Good to know— I will definitely stop. Mission was all I could find when I searched like a year ago. Good pork and fries and sweet tea and sauce options (it’s hard to find up here!) but I never liked the full-on police/military theme. This story tracks 😣
@brianpowell It only opened a few months ago, but it's the 2nd location of Bomber's. I used to live within walking distance of the original location in Munster and go there all the time.
