This would make a great source for an amazing profile picture, but sadly, I can't find any higher resolution online. :/
Derp, found one. Thanks, Google (shudder) -- https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e4/Openbsd23cover.gif/1280px-Openbsd23cover.gif
@joel, what do you think we could make of this image? I was thinking about something stylized, either vectorified, or run through my usual color reduction filters in GIMP.

@joel

I stand corrected. The "higher resolution" version I found online is just an interpolated version of the one I already had. Grr :P

@RL_Dane @joel I used #waifu2x to make the original image bigger. I don't think it changed much though lol

@Charadon @joel

That actually looks better than whatever bilinear/bicubic sampling sxiv does.

Also,

1) of COURSE there's a scaling algorithm called Wafu2x X-D
2) of ~course~ it's nvidia-only. >_>

@RL_Dane @joel One day, it'll be the year of OpenCL...

sxivthere is nsxiv now btwnsxiv is a fork of the now-unmaintained sxiv with the purpose of being a (mostly) drop-in replacement for sxiv, maintaining its interface and adding simple, sensible features. nsxiv is free software licensed under GPLv2 and aims to be easy to modify and customize.https://nsxiv.codeberg.page/

nsxiv - Neo Simple X Image Viewer

@cafkafk @Charadon @joel

I just discovered that, since that's the version that's in the #OpenBSD ports 😅

I didn't realize sxiv was unmaintained; isn't it a #suckless project? Maybe they just feel it's feature-complete and doesn't need any additions?

@RL_Dane @Charadon @joel

Maybe they just feel it's feature-complete and doesn't need any additions?which is valid but still without a maintainer no one is gonna react to the rest of the world breaking stuff, I'm all for saying it's done, but like, without someone to make sure it stays done it's just in a state of decay

There is some smart point to be made here about caring labor

@cafkafk @Charadon @joel

Ah, I didn't realize it isn't hosted on suckless.org, and is in archived state on GitHub. I wonder if it was ever a suckless.org project, or if the original author just called it "suckless."

I'll have to switch all my Linux machines over to nsxiv.

@RL_Dane @cafkafk @Charadon @joel

There's a newer fork that's in ports called nsxiv, which symlinks to sxiv. It's actively maintained.

@RussSharek @cafkafk @Charadon @joel

Yeah, that's what I had, even before I realized that was what I had. haha
