As you may have guessed, I never make it a point to miss MST3K Turkey Day. But that was outta my hands when my modem died on Thursday.
So, since I still have the weekend off and nothing else to do, I was going to do what I intended to do on Thursday: live-watch the MST3K Turkey Day Marathon and share that series love with y'all here.
I love this celebration of MST3K, I love MST3K *period* (as you could've figured from my username), so... let's rock!
And we're back in with The Sword and the Dragon!
Crow: "Is my face as weird as it looks?"

If Team MST3K wants to sell Surgically Enhanced version of The Sword and the Dragon, I'm buying, because this film looks AMAZING.
All the Russo-Finnish movies on this show did, but... hot damn.
Woman: "The Tugars stand at our gate!"
Mike: "Just two guys?"
That's an impossibly stupid joke, but I *heart* it.
One good thing about doing the Turkey Day Marathon this way: pauses for breaks and the like. I *do* appreciate not getting to miss anything this time.
Flashbacks to those "SEGA!" ads.
This show could have a real time capsule feel to it, and bless it forever for that.

Amazing. This is why I'm all in on this show.
[over a shot of many Tugars on a hill]
Crow: "It's a Tugar pileup!"
Riff of the episode, ladies and gentlemen.
Servo: "If you don't want to ride those horses, you can take the FJORD!"
Oh, Servo, no.
"Crow T. Robot rounds out the cast."
"Well... hey, you really did round out the cast!"
"I did?!"
Their comedic chemistry is just the *tops.*
And that's a wrap on The Sword and the Dragon!
Next up is The Starfighters. It has a reputation for being one of the most punishing nothings of a movie that they ever showed on MST3K, and its reputation is... well earned, to say the least!

Love it. This is the stuff that helps to put the Marathons above and beyond.

Not at all sure that I'm ready for Surgically Enhanced Starfighters.
This is going to be one greasy looking movie... as it is already.
Dr. Forrester getting antsy over Cowboy Mike's Original Red-Hot Ricocheeeeeeeeeeet BBQ Sauce not being bold is SO Dr. Forrester.
My new current favorite bit of closed captioning is now " (cowboy cheering and laughter) "

As someone who *cannot* stand Sean Penn, that riff is... therapeutic.
Even for gratuitous refueling sequences, this seems rather gratuitous.
Servo: "Geez, we should have Donna Summer singing for this scene."
Mike: "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII love to fuel ya, baby..."
This show, for real. Y'all.
Crow: "It was really awkward 'cause he yelled out Cordite Four, but he was with Cordite FIVE!"
Servo: "Oh, no, no, stay, I'll cook breakfast, over."
Mike: "Cordite Four, promise you'll call?"
[scream-laughing]
This movie has a much better, groovier, jazzier soundtrack than it deserves.
The Starfighters is squaresville, man.
I have no idea who The Starfighters was for.
Who among us HAVEN'T sauntered away from the phone while being put on hold, only for the operative to pick up while you're still away?
This cuts deep, is what I'm saying.
