Black twitter right now reminds me of just how deeply contingent black communities — digital and physical — are upon the whims of white people.
@Jelaniya The word you were looking for was “rich.” Rich people. Blaming a race seems… what’s that word again?

@MWilson @Jelaniya

sigh. try again bro.

How many rich black people own/run/manage social media?

Okay, how many moderate income white people?

The observation isn't "the darn white people mess everything up"

It's "because white people tend to run these places, they often miss black issues"

@jrm4 @Jelaniya
"because white people tend to run these places, they often miss black issues"

Fair comment, and not racist. That’s not what the other guy said.

@MWilson @Jelaniya

But it's what he *meant* -- which is why I responded to you in the way I did.

He wasn't at all unclear, it's that *you* appear to be unfamiliar with a thing that many of us already are.

@jrm4 @MWilson @Jelaniya Boom. Although this type of exchange is dispiriting. I’ve only seen people operating in good faith on here. This is unnecessary.
@MWilson @Jelaniya RacISM, just like fascISM, capitalISM, sexISM, is about a system built to support one group over another. Black people in America can no more be racist against a white person than a working class person can be capitalist against a rich person. The word describes a relationship of power that only goes one way. A working class person can only dream about being rich enough to exploit the rich. So it goes for fascism(can a disabled person be fascist against a Nazi? What system of power backs up the threat of mass genocide of Nazis?), sexism(what system of power backs up the threat of mass domestic murder against men, selection for female babies over male babies, withholding jobs from men and making them the property of their wives with no access to bank accounts or travel without permission?). What system of power backs up the threat of a black person wielding state power against a white person, such that all they have to do is cry and point a finger and the police will come and take the white person away, hold them without bail, give them double the normal sentence for whatever they were accused of, and then bid them good luck at not pissing off any guards, who are nearly all black and obsessed with power, such that they get penalized over and over within the prison system and are forced to serve the maximum sentence rather than being let out early like the other black people? What system of power backs up the threat of “racism” against a white person in America? None. That’s the answer. None.

@TheSolarPunkAnarchist @Jelaniya So, by your logic, if a black American says, “white people are all evil” it *isn’t* racist?

I disagree.

@MWilson @Jelaniya I hear that you disagree. What system of power is a black person wielding as a threat against white people if they say that? Unless you can line that out for me, in such a way that it seems equal to the weight of power wielded by the US justice system, your disagreement has no weight for me.
@MWilson @Jelaniya This attitude and snark harkens back to Twitter.
