YayForThatI think she is using the color metaphor, as she so often does ("loving him was red" etc.) to describe how her feelings have deepened. The feeling of a new love is like the color red... intense, striking.... but later on, when it's become the real shit – deeper, warmer, less garish – it's maroon...
