Truth be told, I’m not sure about equal leave because it neglects the physical recovery for the birthing parent but nonetheless, we could use more paid parental leave than the 16 weeks Dutch women (birthing parents) currently get and the 2 days men (non-birthing parents) get.
@babyattachmode I agree it's a tricky one, but I do support equal leave. Assuming it doesn't mean shorter leave for a parent recovering from childbirth, I can see at least two benefits. First, having another person at home to take care of a new baby (and other children) should mean more opportunity for rest/recovery after giving birth. Second, if all new parents take extended leave, it might help mitigate assumptions about 'women of childbearing age' in recruitment.
