I like this #BooksOfMastodon trend: #7books to get to know me (or more like 7 #books that opened my mind). In no particular order, and definitely not exhaustive:

- No Logo, Naomi Klein (just what was available on my shelf: really everything she's written)
- King Leopold's Ghost, Adam Hochschild
- The Challenge for Africa, Wangari Maathai
- Malcolm X, Alex Haley
- Vindication of the Rights of Woman, Mary Wollstonecraft
- The Second Sex, Simone de Beauvoir
- The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank

@ali oh my - it’s been years since I thought about Wollstonecraft-what an incredible book. And then that brings to mind A Room of One’s Own, Virginia Woolf. That inspired me to demand my own room when I moved in with 1stHusband

@SuburbanWildlife Yes! Mary Wollstonecraft is just fabulous isn't she. I love how her personality shines through in her footnotes throughout A Vindication of the Rights of Woman. She just can't contain her annoyance at how wrong everyone had been about women.

(Also, so funny that you mentioned Virginia Woolf. About 10 minutes after I made my original post I thought 'oh no, I forgot A Room of One's Own!'. It definitely fits in the list!)
