@roamnallova indeed that looks like a lot of work. nice straight trunks for firewood though (but lots of work).
Hope everyone is ok, it looks hung so would have been tricky to get off the road safely. 🪚 🪓

Neighbours came to the rescue fortunately...our house-sitters not use to using a chainsaw....
Think they might have taken the wood with them though 🤔

@roamnallova Chainsaw+skills are soooo useful when you need them.
Hope the neighbours tidied up everything that isn’t firewood (that’s always the most time consuming)

Agree!
Our problem is House Sitters generally do just that & don't have farm skills (other than feeding animals)... We use volunteers during the busy grow season & they tend to have more skills but still need a degree of supervision.
Neighbours are great & really act as a community when needed 😊

@roamnallova that’s great you have competent neighbours. Ours are also great (but are getting old). The community of helping each other and sharing skills and tools (like tractors or big chainsaws) makes remote living possible.
Volunteers sound great, we aspire to that. Do you have storms just now?

Storm was last night. We have been in Romania for a few weeks just travelling. In Belgrade now, weather terrible here too, back home on Wednesday.
Our village is aging as well but recently an influx of younger people escaping COVID & capitalism has breathed some life into it.
Volunteer help is great (& very much needed for half a year). We use workaway site & found it to be really good. It's free for hosts

Older generation is a real issue where we live (scottish highlands) with people retiring here and pricing young folk out of the market.

@rtmgla @roamnallova just said exzctly this to my wife & then saw your post. We housesit in the Cotswolds & the villagers here are mostly in their golden years. There's limited housing for young families & property prices are stratospheric.
