Voted today.
Politicians were being assholes about allowing 18 year olds to vote; right now voting age is 20 and they want to keep it that way.
Which is ridiculous because Taiwan has a mandatory military service at 18.
Anyway. Voting place was a 12 min walk away, 3 min drive, and there were at least three voting rooms.
About 15 min in line, total excursion was over in 35 min from door to door.
Woulda taken less time if we didn’t need to find parking.
#Democracy #DoneRight
Further, you get multiple tickets and they’re color coded.
So you get one for the referendum, another for your representative, another for the mayor etc.
It’s pretty neat because it makes vote counting faster and you can discard whichever you don’t want to vote for.
Which is not to say it’s all roses.
I have no earthly clue why it’s nigh on impossible to find a site for past political track records for candidates.
And like, paying attention to the Taiwanese political scene is like asking to be Milkshake Ducked daily.
I’ve hit the point where I’ve concluded that no one with a shred of conscience is a politician these days 🤷🏻‍♀️
BUT our voting system works, propaganda aside.
