🚀 8 hours of gaming on Linux on battery on a MacBook Air!!!! 🚀

So I unplugged the M2 MacBook Air while running Xonotic windowed at 1920x1080 in a GNOME desktop at 60FPS...

The estimated battery runtime is almost 8 hours!!!!! ✨✨✨

And yes the number is accurate ^^

It comes from the battery controller, the same data that macOS uses. It's averaged out over time, so I waited for the number to settle before taking the screenshot (it takes a minute or two).

@lina if I ask to test it on native to get a rough comparison, will I need stitches?
@lina that’s crazy I can’t even imagine how it can consume that little power
@lina @xi apple engineers… not using intel hacked hardware….
@lina estimates are garbage. Show me that real world
@neonfire The battery controller's estimates are accurate on MacBooks, we've tested it ^^ (and it matches current consumption metrics)
@lina then it should be easy to make a time lapse and prove it lol
@neonfire If you don't believe it you can try it for yourself! ✨✨
@lina okay, send me a MacBook. Jk, just send me a Macintosh Portable
@lina if I was ever going to get a macbook to run my next linux os, that wuld be why. I've never had a battery run longer than 3 hours
@lina How does this compare to the macOS times?
@lina interesting

especially considering gnome lol
@lina which distro is that?
@antanicus Asahi Linux, which is based on Arch Linux ARM! ✨
@lina thanks! Not like I have the money lying around to get an M2 mac anyway 😂
@lina holy! that's incredible! You, the guys and gals that are making the arm based macs run on linux are doing great stuff, it's only been like what? An year? And already hardware acceleration!

@lina Amazing work!

That really wants me get a macbook :D

How's the same games performance on macos?

@lina It looks amazing!

Is it possible to run Proton/#Wine on M2&Linux at this time?

Thanks.

To my knowledge, Box64 works (but 32-bit can't work), FEX doesn't yet due to a rather large technical challenge:

https://github.com/FEX-Emu/FEX/issues/1221

Not 100% sure about Wine support for these two. Box64 seems to work, FEX seems(??) to have support or at least are close to it.
As for OpenGL acceleration, both have thunking, so if it works on the host, there shouldn't(tm) be problems.
