Hello World
My new Mastodon instance appears to be up and running. The migration has taken its toll on my archive, which doesn't seem to be portable. But I'm here. And my followers seem to be showing up too. Kinda cool.
@benjaminwittes Why the switch?
@vjmes Wanted to try running my own.
I decided I wanted to be an Arbiter of Truth. @qjurecic
@vjmes @benjaminwittes im telling you—this way lies madness
@qjurecic @vjmes I dunno. Our content moderation rules are pretty excellent.
@vjmes @benjaminwittes content moderation is like the Ark of the Covenant in Indiana Jones
@qjurecic @vjmes So far, my skeptical friend, we have been live for several hours and we have had zero content moderation requests. No complaints of any kind from any users. So there.
@benjaminwittes @vjmes several hours!! Well then
@qjurecic @vjmes Dude, we've even had like 3 or 4 posts by people other than me!
@benjaminwittes @qjurecic @vjmes it's a scale problem. Easy to have moderation rules like "no a--holes" when the admin personally knows all the members of the instance.
@benjaminwittes @qjurecic @vjmes A lawyer I know has a similar rule at his small law chambers. It works when you only have a few tenants. https://dolawbetter.ca/no-asshole-policy/
