Okay, so I've asked and learned about Rottnest Island, now I want to ask folks from #Canberra, anything good to see/do there?

The National Dinosaur Museum is top of my list (and only thing on my list, haha). 🦖 My partner is keen to visit, but doesn't think it's worthwhile if we're only seeing one thing.

Um... Go see the Dog on the Tuckerbox in Gundagai?

Top 10 things to do in Canberra

Truly experience Australia’s capital with adventures on the lake in summer, stunning views each autumn, fresh truffles during winter, floral festivals in spring, and great exhibitions all year round.

@elfwink depends what you're into. In the city there's lots of museums and galleries and the war memorial. There's also the Arboretum which is a beautiful building with some lovely views of Canberra. Further out is Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve if you like nature and maybe a picnic.

There's more but I'd be just listing things at random.

Zoo & Aquarium
Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve
Botanic Gardens
War Memorial
National Museum
National Library
Questacon
Segway at Lake Burley-Griffen
Parliament House

@elfwink what are you interested in? imo all the national institutions are worth at least one visit (nat museum, nga, portrait gallery, oph) but there's tonnes of great nature around too
@elfwink Next to the NDM is Cockington Green Gardens, Canberra Walk-in Avairy & Canberra Reptile Zoo.
@elfwink National Arboretum, National Zoo & Aquarium, National Museum and the Botanic Gardens are all good too.
@cefiar @elfwink lots of great suggestions on this thread - would only add national archives are amazing. They have all the letters written to politicians about UFOs and Harold Holt's briefcase (which he left on the beach before disappearing). And we also have nice restaurants and cafes. It's much better than it used to be 😍
@thesiswhisperer @cefiar @elfwink and don’t forget to pop into NLA - great exhibitions, lovely architecture and one of the best bookshops around (although Canberra is very good on bookshops if they are your thing - in that area also recommend popping past Paperchain, Muse and the Book cow).
