Here’s my Post.news profile. I remain skeptical. https://post.news/palafo

@palafo Have you posted anything or is this just the view for people who haven't logged in?
@mikestevens @palafo Not visible for outsiders.
@frumble @palafo That just feels really silly. Fine to do that if it's to drive signups and the process is done in seconds, but they've got a thousands-strong wait list – meaning they're robbing current users of exposure (and maybe not inspiring new signups if people can't even see it in action). A short-term thing though I guess.
@mikestevens @palafo This thing was obviously hacked together in a weekend, what do you expect?
@frumble @mikestevens Yeah, I tried to share a post on Twitter and it was not great. Let’s see what Masto does: https://post.news/article/2I3biT2UnXeVXagw1UZIsegRUiL

@palafo Ah well that's something at least!
A Holiday Season Divided by Inflation and Economic Struggles

Even if policymakers achieve a gentle economic slowdown, it won’t be smooth for everyone.

@mikestevens @frumble So they are displaying our copyrighted photo without credit or context on the poorly implemented social card

@palafo @frumble At a glance, it doesn't look any different to what I'd see if you shared it on Twitter, in terms of credit on the photo? This is the view I'm getting, anyway.

Interesting too that they're using OpenWeb for comments/replies rather than thier own integrated comments. Granted it's using an SSO for both Post and the OpenWeb comments, but it does kinda highlight how basic the service build is that such a key piece of it is a third-party SAAS.

@mikestevens @frumble Are you logged in? That is not what it looks like to me
@palafo @frumble Can't yet, I'm still on the waitlist. Wow yeah, that looks terrible!
@palafo
Oh sorry you meant how it looks in Mastodon! I don't get a post preview at all on desktop, but yes it looks similar in Fedilab (which is an ugly but very functional mastodon app)
