Spending an hour on the birdsite makes me feel angry at various people whose existence I was previously unaware of, and generally despairing of humanity.

Spending an hour on Mastodon makes me feel like finishing up and releasing several open source projects, installing Linux and taking up editing Wikipedia as a hobby.

This isn't even an exaggeration, I was literally going through code I have thinking "yeah this could be useful to someone, just needs a little tidying up and a readme.md"

I have released the sum total of nothing publicly up to now, but something about Mastodon (or at least the people I'm following!) really plants the seed of wanting to take that plunge.

@tomw Spot on. And people you would never seek out otherwise or walk away from and avoid, but you had to SEE them no matter what. Energy vampires

@tomw You ain't wrong, buddy. That place was designed to amp people up and now it's taking all that gross hyperfixated hatred and aiming at vulnerable communities all over again. Glad to be here instead, it is indeed nicer.
