OK so what with current events I am hearing clips of #Spanish as spoken in the area of Argentina that Lionel Messi is from and it is BREAKING. MY. BRAIN.

I don't speak Spanish these days but I had it off and on from preschool, so I have a pretty good sense of how sounds work in several high-profile Spanish dialects, but I can't even get a handle on word segmentation in this. @thatandromeda Years ago I spent a few days in Argentina. My Spanish is bad, but within hours of arriving I learned a) they have a completely different verb form and b) they don’t call the language “Español,” and at that point I gave up and surrendered to practicing terrible Spanish. It was freeing, in a way.

@thatandromeda I can't remember! I've been trying to remember today, but I think the memory is gone. (This was in Buenos Aries, FWIW.)
