Not saying this is gonna *make* you into a leftist, it's just gonna amplify your already existing left-curious tendencies.

If you think that sentence is re-adapted from something I used to say to frat guys in college, you're right.

@andthisismrspeacock not universally true, the Fediblock people and their supporters saw all this freedom and decided the Fediverse needed some cops to keep order.
@TrismegistusMx @andthisismrspeacock paradox of tolerance, dude. read it
@tillianisafox @andthisismrspeacock Why do you think I won't tolerate your call to authority? You should remove ACAB from your username if you're going to support Fediblock. It's obvious that you think cops are necessary to protect you at the expense of others, even though we all have our own block and filter tools.

@TrismegistusMx If you value "freedom of speech" (which is not at all impacted by instances blocking other instances) over the well-being of other people on the network (which is impacted heavily by abuse of freedom of speech), I can recommend another social network to you that may suit your ideas better.

Freedom of speech does not imply others have to listen.

@rnlf It's not about their freedom of speech. It's about your ability to decide for yourself. You have block tools. You are advocating for an authority to decide what you see. That has never worked out for the benefit of the person giving up their power. You don't know what you don't get to see, and your blindness makes you easy to manipulate.

@TrismegistusMx Users have all the abilty to decide for themselves.

The "authority" is a group of moderators you hopefully trust (otherwise, what the heck are you doing on that instance in the first place?)

There are instances that don't defederate others. If you want to read all the crap that exists in the fediverse, you're free to go there. If you don't like Fediblock, go to an instance that doesn't use it. Easy.

You're actually endorsing less choice, not more.

@TrismegistusMx Without instances that defederate, you only have the choice to first see all the hate, likely directed at your specific minority group. Means you only have the choice to get retraumatised each time you open your fed timeline.

With instances that defederate, you have real choice.

@rnlf what choice? The choice is made for you. You don't know what you don't know. You only know that you have absolute faith in the authority figures that control your experience.
