A significant part of my job is to support researchers navigate their funders' increasingly complex open access policies, and persuade them to make their work more open. I'd be much happier to do this if many of them weren't struggling on temporary and zero hours contracts, stressed out with unmanageable workloads and fighting a racist, sexist academy.
