My journey through Genesis Archive 1967-1975 ends now with this collection of gems. I’ve always loved the Nightride sessions but there are many other delights. The youthful Peter Gabriel sings beautifully and I have both a smile and tear at «But the highest cave was yours not mine» For collectors only I guess!
@stevenjgibbons You've inspired my morning listening now! I binged that particular disk for a few months at university. That song gets me as well - though the part that really hits me is the guitar-theme that sounds almost western'y and the general increase in intensity through the song that always made me speed up a bit and walking in a "movie-like way" when listening to it while walking.
@stevenjgibbons On a related note, one of my most powerful non-live musical experiences is the live Supper's Ready from that collection: I was listening to it, not for the first time but this was before I knew it intimately, on a very early, and very misty, Saturday morning in Edinburgh, walking to find a church I hadn't been at before for a choir-rehearsal. And after being a bit lost the church finally emerged from the mist - exactly at the belting of the last "New Jerusalem" in that song.
@clq The middle section of the Apocalypse in 9/8 was *actually* the soundtrack to many nightmares when I was a teenager (aged 13-14!) Are you going to Steve Hackett in Oslo (May 16, 2023) - playing the whole of Foxtrot?

@stevenjgibbons Ooo, wasn't aware of that. Tempting! I saw Hackett in Oslo on what was definitely a first of May, must have been in 2016 or thereabouts. Unfortunately, due to potential birthday plans in the household on that day, I can't saw for sure whether I can make it for a little while yet - but I'll definitely go if there are tickets left when I can commit!
@clq Tickets on https://www.ticketmaster.no/event/steve-hackett-billetter/697985 - I think it is quite likely to sell out (the last two shows he have done in Oslo sold out several months before the show). His playing is still fantastic!
