A feature I'd like is the ability to turn DMs off here (in a way that alerts people trying to send them to me). Aside from the inherent insecurity, they're hard to see in some apps/UIs, and I often miss seeing them, as do, I presume, many others. Plus it's yet another thing to check, like an unwanted voicemail box.
Cue the "why DMs here are perfect" and "you shouldn't complain, you're too new here" crowd.

@mattblaze I mean, you could try asking how people handle that issue, instead of just declaring, in your wisdom, that you know it's bad.

But that would be the kind and community-centered version, and fuck that entire concept, right?

@notafurry @mattblaze Matt began his post with "A feature I'd like is..." If you'd like to argue that he's mistaken, you could probably do that, but your attempt at tone policing seems misplaced. I have found DMs to be useful but in most cases prefer communication in public. DMs do not scale, and are perhaps less useful when one is ... controversial... and targeted by large numbers of belligerent people.

Ahem.

Please examine the *second* post in the chain.

@notafurry @mattblaze Given that he was right, I'm not sure what your point is?

@brainwagon @mattblaze

I don't believe I said anything about the DM system or his tenure here, either.

You want to go for three stupid comments in a row?
