In many ways I'm glad what is happening at Twitter is happening as it is. Smarter fascists would have made each change gradually, over months, releasing biased data suggesting no negative impact then moved onto the next change. This would have given advertisers and users time to rationalize it and quickly forget things used to be better.

Instead everyone is being given a stark choice right up front: Be a part of a fascist network or leave.
