Fun times on Hollywood and Highland with my 4 teens.
The kids wanted to get a bell for granny. πŸ˜‚
@amandacsb2 do they make different noises? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
@talia_christine that would have been perfect! πŸ˜†
@amandacsb2 hit up Tommy's on Beverly and Rampart, best chili burgers in town (maybe the world)
@BigEarl we have Tommy’s burgers by me. Is it the same?

@amandacsb2 watch how the name is spelled, a lot of copycats out there (Tomy's, Tommies, etc) that suck. There are a few around, just look for "the shack" on the sign.

Forget any other food item on the menu, no one goes there for anything but chili burgers (and for the love of God, don't order WITHOUT chili, that is a pure philistine move! 😁)

@BigEarl this is what I grew up with as Tommy’s. Chili is a must!
@amandacsb2 YESSS! I've been away from Cali for 20 years and I still distinctly remember glorious doubles with mustard, onion and CHILI! And almost always at Beverly and Rampart before Dodger games.
@amandacsb2 @BigEarl 🀀🀀🀀🀀
@amandacsb2 @BigEarl omg I'd forgotten about this place!
@BigEarl @talia_christine it was the food of choice in HS. That and Naugles (which is now Del Taco). I have several Tommy’s near me. Just went last week with the kids. They said the burger was messy. I told them to use their fries to clean up the extra chili.
@amandacsb2 @BigEarl I feel like you don't realize I grew up in orange county.πŸ˜‚
@talia_christine @BigEarl I keep forgetting! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ™ƒ
What city?
@amandacsb2 @BigEarl I went to HS where Sam took her driver's test.🀫
@amandacsb2 @BigEarl I lived in HB for a while too.

@talia_christine @amandacsb2
We'll, now I guess I'm just preaching to the choir!

I miss Cali so much!

@BigEarl @amandacsb2 okay I miss some stuff πŸ˜‚
@BigEarl @talia_christine I forget about some of the stuff we have here because I get into a routine. I’ll take all the reminders if it results in good food. πŸ˜‚
@BigEarl @talia_christine I was born in Long Beach. Moved at 18 to Seal Beach. Also lived in Aliso Viejo for 22 yrs. Now back here. I’ve not gone far. πŸ˜†

@amandacsb2 @BigEarl @talia_christine, that's how it's done.

I need to take my kids to Tommy's, but first I want to take them to Pink's at Melrose and La Brea. That was a regular stop for me and my friends in high school when we'd go to Hollywood for a movie.

@tusker @amandacsb2 @talia_christine
Yes! Pink's! Don't forget to pickup a Jewish soda
@tusker @amandacsb2 @BigEarl pinks is okay but we used to go to the place that's an old train caboose in Hollywood. I wonder if it's still around.
@talia_christine @amandacsb2 @BigEarl I like Carney's, too - usually hit them up when I went to Tower Records and Book Soup back in the day - but Pink's has a lot of memories attached for me.
@tusker @talia_christine @amandacsb2
For me Pink's is only for the off-season, Dodger Dogs are my preferred wieners in LA
@tusker @talia_christine @BigEarl I’ve never eaten at pinks. I should probably take the kids soon.
@talia_christine @tusker @amandacsb2
I know where that caboose is (Carney's, on Sunset at the curve west of Chateau Marmont) never been.
@BigEarl @tusker @amandacsb2 yes! I remember it being really good but that could be nostalgia talking.πŸ˜…
@amandacsb2 My wife and I took our kids to the Wax Museum, the Chinese, and the Funko Pop museum last year, then we ate at Bob's Big Boy over in Burbank. Bob's was our regular hangout when we had Universal Studios passes years ago.
@tusker I did Bobs in Burbank with kids in 2019. So fun. I went to the one on bellflower Blvd in LB when I was young.

@amandacsb2 Bob's was our hangout in high school, where everyone went after football and basketball games or dance and drama performances. It was also one of my grandparents' favorite restaurants, so pretty much anytime they babysat me, that's where we'd end up for dinner.

Funny how places become woven into your life-story.

@tusker when I was young we rarely are out. The two places we would eat for special occasions were Bobs and Straw Hat Pizza on Spring and Palo Verde.
I have great memories.
