What prevents us #AsianAmerican folks from having our own #BlackMastodon community?

I was born in Los Angeles to a HK immigrant father and a Midwest-conservative Chinese mother. I spent many formative years with my Wuhan-born maternal grandmother as well. While the sounds and smells of my heritage are familiar, I feel cut off from true familiarity.

#Asian is a giant hashtag, but I often feel like a #ThirdCultureKid even though I don't think that I fully qualify as one.

@iris_tsui agreed. i was born in taiwan but raised in cupertino/sunnyvale. there is a huge sub-diaspora of us out there.

@iris_tsui I joined Mastodon a week or so ago and was just lamenting how little #Asian or #AsianAmerican content and creators there are.

You're valid and you're #AsianEnough.

@dirtypeanut @iris_tsui Ray, I believe you are one of the only LGBTQ+ Asian American game developers that I've seen on here thus far.

I am kinda disheartened, but I am also wondering why that may be the case...

@iris_tsui that's what makes us Americans. We're a little of everything. I claim Asians as native americans because we came from Asia 40K years ago. How y'all doing cousin?
