I think there should be an assault weapons ban. But, I've owned a variety of guns for sport shooting and hunting, and I know most people are not violent mass murderers. I think if a compromise is necessary, it should be 1) mandate more strenuous screening to purchase an assault weapon, and 2) it must be kept in a certified armory at a range, for those who wish to shoot these weapons for fun (no one needs to hunt with an assault weapon). No assault wpns kept at home, period.
