This week #EPlenary I will negotiate a resolution about large carnivores aka #wolves. The return of the wolves is a success for European species conservation. At the same time, we need to support farmers who are facing challenges. 🐺 These are our demands:

Today we vote in the European Parliament on a resolution on #largecarnivores aka #wolves. Keep in mind this is non-binding, but what is at stake here: more political pressure on the commission to change the wolf's protection status at EU level by opening up the #HabitatDirective.
The joint motion resolution text signed by every political group (except of ID) was balanced and included conservation of large carnivores as well as management in line with the #HabitatDirective. #wolves
As expected, the EPP and ECR have also tabled some AMs calling for a downgrading of the protection status of the wolf. #HabitatDirective. #wolves
@[email protected] (pressured by the French DEL) pulled out of the deal by having a free vote on AM18 calling for the protection status „to be amended as soon as the desired conservation status has been reached“. Votes will be tight & we may need to vote against it #wolfves
