How not to redact a document. This is a dangerous advice because the sensitive information stays in the document.

If you are using osx, you can use "preview" to redact documents and scrub the selected content.

What other tools would you recommend?

@c7h This is terrible advice as you can highlight the text even in 'View' mode and put it on the clipboard... not had to do this for a long while, but when I did, it was a case of save the doc to PDF then use Acrobat to do the redaction. Agree on a Mac Preview is the way to go.
