Filters are your best friend. If you don’t want content about Elon Musk , go to Preference > Filters and make one for "Musk".

Or Twitter. Or anything you don't want to see.

Those posts will be hidden, and filters can be time-limited. So if you just want to filter out football chat during the world cup, you can do that.

@thetitanborn I’ve been trying to mute hashtags using filters, but it seems to do nothing. It works if I filter the word, but if I put the pound sign before it, nada. So—and I know I’ll probably commit some Mastodon sin by saying this—I can’t mute “hashtagCats” but I don’t want to filter every use of the word “Cats” either.

What’s a person to do? 🤷‍♂️
