@rbreich But let us not make the mistake of delineating acceptable vs unacceptable by easily evaded criteria.

Rather, we should ban firearms that can impart N or more joules of energy into projectiles within a span of M seconds. That is easily measured and highly objective.

Exactly. The second amendment does not have to be repealed, but it can be brought up to date to reflect the weapons today versus the muskets that were available then. When people are dying en mass because of the power, accuracy, and sheer number of bullets that can be deployed…something MUST be done. The stranglehold of the NRA on our government is ludicrous.
