Aftermath of Muscovy's latest strategically stupid strikes on a European capital today:
@decodingtrolls How confident can we be that these terror attacks will have no impact? If the whole country is without power, the Ukrainian defence certainly has a harder time.

@johannes Original Ruschist strategy was to take political control of Ukraine - a strategic, tactic and operational failure by Muscovy.

Clear within a few days of invasion that, in its own terms, invasion was a strategic failure (https://twitter.com/decodingtrolls/status/1504202289246056453?s=46&t=LeSUa_Ig7AVlkdvB1sPuEQ).

Since then retreat from #Kyiv, #Kharkhiv and #Kherson, at a cost of 100,000s of lives.

Now, sole strategic goal to keep Crimea.

Yet, each barbaric missile attack bolsters 🇺🇦 arsenal with western weapons, and will to expel the invaders.

@decodingtrolls And yet, the west does far from what it could do. Far too little, and my own country is among the worst offenders. This is beyond infuriating!
#FreeTheLeopards

@johannes #FreeTheLeopards indeed. Muscovy somehow hopes if it provokes millions more Ukrainians to flee an electricity/gas free winter that it will divide the EU against helping defeat Muscovy.

It's a madcap plan.

The opposite is more likely to happen: that the Leopards are finally freed to help Ukraine retake its land more quickly.

@decodingtrolls I'm just a natural born pessimist. I guess, Ukraine will eventually win. Still, at the moment I just feel like crying.

I spent 30 years working with indigenous peoples in Russia. But Russia is just such a steaming pile of garbage now. The brutalisation of Russian society is beyond imagination. And even if Russia will collapse at some point, it can still do untold damage until then.

@johannes I hear you.

The toll on Small Numbered Peoples in Muscovy of this war (and centuries of genocide) is also cruel and painful.

Each of these unprovoked attacks especially against blameless civilians in central Europe can't but disturb our own chakras.

There must be a response to each of these attacks from our governments that punishes Muscovy for such barbarism. A response like #FreeTheLeopards for example. 🙏🏾

@decodingtrolls I'v been part of the group that compiled this report https://batani.org/archives/2156 Still, I feel that, as bad as the situation of indigenous peoples is, it becomes completely insignificant, compared to the horror people in Ukraine go through.

And adding insult to injury, I see that some of my former partners openly support Putin's genocidal actions.

Russian aggression against Ukraineand Indigenous peoples of Russia – Batani

@johannes I'll read this report with great interest. Many thanks. It is really hard to take that many ordinary Russians celebrate genocide. Thankfully Scholz seems less willing to call it "Putin's War" war these days.
@decodingtrolls Scholz is a complete mystery to me. There has been lots of speculation that the Kremlin might have some kompromat against him, maybe related to the Wirecard scandal. They say that what has prevented him from #FreeTheLeopards (insert ing) is that the SPD stands in the tradition of Willy Brandt's Ostpolitik, but Brandt developed it in an entirely different context, before which he had actually been quite hawkish himself.
@decodingtrolls I find it next to impossible to see an actual political rationale for his embarrassing inaction, and I have never seen any statement where he lays out his reasons. He just holds on to endless delay tactics for no discernable reason at all. And even FM Baerbock seems to be completely impotent to change anything about it. Why? Why? Why?
