So I just started recording my top streamed songs from various years from Apple Replay/Spotify Wrapped to mixtapes. It feels so cool to actually hold your yearly streaming history in your hands. Maybe I’m just old. “Clings to his record collection”
@ShogunOfTruth why cassette and not a digital media?
I'm a fan of MD format and I get that hard drives are not the same as having a Vinyl/Cassette/CD. But analog cassette sounds so badly and it often breaks.
(Not complaining just curious)
@Andres Minidisc is extremely obscure in the US, so I honestly just don’t have the equipment to make those, a tape deck just seemed the better bet to purchase as their is still an under ground music cultural around them. My local record shop still sells indie garage artists demo tapes and stuff. Also, the cassettes sounding bad thing, is not entirely true. They won’t sound as good as a CD/vinyl, but they can still sound good when done right. 1/2
@Andres one of the reasons we have such bad memories of tapes is because we recorded them off FM radio, on $20 department store boomboxes. Even the professional tape duplication process back then wasn’t great. But today, if you 1. Buy higher quality tapes, 2. record off a more pricey hifi tape deck, and 3, record direct from lossless Digital files from a PC, and honestly turns out really good. Also more expensive tape decks won’t eat and destroy you tapes. 2/2
