I have an old bored retired guy problem. I am trying to organize my books after a move (see profile picture). Somewhere I have an odd box with a dozen or so books in it that we haven’t got to unpacking, it is one of dozens. Not only will I have to shift dozens of shelf feet of books to fit them in, I have also found more that I skipped while alphabetizing by author (yes, I am that guy). Also, whenever I sneak a new book into the house, my wife has forbidden me from buying more, I don’t want to have to shift the whole mess to fit one in. This is the result of 50 years of accumulation.
As I shelf books, my biggest frustration is from the gap of missing books that I have loaned and never got back. Yes, it was a paperback that I bought in a used bookstore more than 30 years ago, but it is my book. There is a special place in Hell for those that borrow a book and don’t return it.
