The Dems with control of the White House and Congress blew a massive opportunity to rein in gun violence by failing to pass an assault weapons ban instead settling for a Republican mental health bill.
Tragedies will happen until Congress bans assault weapons. Democrats - if they had political courage would get this done during the #lameduck session.

Folks who are uncomfortable with criticism of Dems for not being aggressive on gun point to issues such as filibuster - which underscores the shortcoming of ineffective and politically facile Democratic leadership with no willpower and courage to take on meaningful structural reforms to help the country.
In other words friends - note I am a Democrat - but I am not tribal - will not hesitate to call out leaders when they come up short.
