Imagine owning one of these things now. #Tesla #ElonMusk #Twitter
@awgonnerman As someone who used to work there, and put a tremendous amount of sweat and work and effort into the goal of electrifying transportation, and a tesla driver, I have many thoughts. I don’t want to get into all of them right now, but they can be summed up that liking the car doesn’t mean you like Elon. And that much of the good work that came out of there was despite him, not because of him. Like everything in this world, it’s complex and nuanced.
@noblegaragebrew right. But that doesn't change the fact that owning one and driving it around right now can be pretty damn awkward. Like owning a $46,000 MAGA cap. Even though that's not what was intended.

@awgonnerman Yeah, I’m extremely unhappy what he’s doing to the brand. My point though, is there are real, good people who work there and have a good goal they are working for. And I hope people can realize that driving the car, or working for the company, doesn’t mean you support him.

I spent 7 years there. Ultimately I quit because he fired people he shouldn’t have. But I have friends there still that I respect, and are truly working towards the goal of decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels

@noblegaragebrew @awgonnerman luckily there are many other electric choices now, mostly because of Tesla. Seeing what he’s done at twitter makes me question whether he has strayed from those environmental goals though.

@triplesingle @awgonnerman Agreed. Our second car is a Mach-E, and it’s great! Sadly the charging networks for the other companies aren’t good enough though, and I can’t recommend anything other than Teslas if you want to take a road trip.

But I’m very proud to see all the other great EVs on the market now.

Elon might not have the right goals anymore, but I can assure you that the ground level engineers at Tesla definitely do.

@noblegaragebrew @awgonnerman that’s good to know about the Tesla employees. My neighbor got a MachE just because of Elon. This was about a year ago. Hopefully the charging infrastructure will improve over time too.
