powerful datavis can be simple and non-graphical.

here's a project of mine from a good while ago: "autocomplete" for passwords, based on all passwords extracted from the "collection leaks".

the project this little tool was a part of has sadly been depublished since a while ago.

for those who like a deeper dive (into the datavis part mostly) @andykirk interviewed my colleague sabine and me about the project a while ago.

@yetzt uuuuuh, nice! danke <3

@yetzt Super, großartiges Tool! Hab ich mir gleich gebookmarked für #ChaosMachtSchule u.ä.

Interessante Erkenntnis übrigens: „MeinPasswort“ ist 3mal häufiger als „KeinPasswort“! 😆

@yetzt whenever I see those leaks, I wonder (or hope that) how many passwords are just that simple as they are used for unimportant pages where a setup was required.

However, with tools like #LastPass and others random, strong passwords are as easy as the simple ones. Just better protection.

@dentlike we did some extensive analysis (it's been depublished since sadly) and there are some quite complex and unexpected passwords in there. fun fact: passwords containing or consisting of emoji exists. wouldn't recommend though, after seeing in how many ways the encoding can go wrong.

@yetzt a good friend told me once her password for her online banking access. The password was "konto" (not even capitalized), which is the German word for bank account 🙄

Having said that, it was not allowed to have more than 5 letters (no numbers, so special characters) for the login password to the biggest German bank "Sparkasse". I asked why and they said "For money transfer you still need a TAN, so all secure." .....

@yetzt Really neat tool! Thank you for putting this together.
@yetzt Cool! Finally I found a tool that generates passwords that are easy to remember!
@yetzt That's very cool! Thanks for sharing. 👍

@yetzt very cool, thanks for your work and sharing it!
@yetzt Hier ist ein Platz ganz oben in der Trefferliste also nicht so erstrebenswert wie bei Google?
@yetzt writing passwords in a random form on the internet, what can go wrong...
@sbz not much in this case. if you don't trust me, the code is on github. :)
