I see no logic in wanting to worship a deity who demands you live in perpetual fear.
@SpockResists Some people see God as a benevolent, omniscient, omnipresent, loving being. I find the concept of “God-fearing” fascinating. Mainly because the people who have that in their bios are invariably nasty people who will likely go to Hell. Oh, the irony 🙄 If they really “feared” God, and Judgement Day, one would expect them to be overflowing with the milk of human kindness. Nope. Not even close.
@Mydoggyruss @SpockResists they're also probably the sort that like to spank their kids to keep them in line. The usual response is "well it didn't do me any harm". Clearly.
@SpockResists are you talking about the orange deity?🤔
@SpockResists I've always been a bit baffled by the idea of killing in the name of a god so weak he apparently can't even do his own killing.
@SpockResists Thousands of years and millions of deaths to fear and bow down, or else! Screw that shit!
@SpockResists some would suggest it shoes psychopathic tendencies

@SpockResists

@godpod may disagree with me here, but if said diety truly does exist then why does it stand by while famine and war constantly plague humanity?
The logical conclusion is said diety is either indifferent, not omnipotent, or…simply doesn’t exist.

@caldwellg @SpockResists @[email protected] it’s been theorized that it goes back to Adam & Eve. When they ate from the tree of knowledge of good/evil, this created freedom of choice. With that comes the consequences for those choices, choices not necessarily made by an individual themself, but by others as well. Theoretically the wars/famine are going on by choice. Not saying I agree, but is one theory.

“I can indeed hardly see how anyone ought to wish Christianity to be true; for if so the plain language of the text seems to show that the men who do not believe, and this would include my Father, Brother and almost all of my friends, will be everlastingly punished.
And this is a damnable doctrine.
Great is the power of steady misrepresentation.”
Charles Darwin
@SpockResists I do worship a deity as you call Him, but mine is gracious and slow to anger. That said, He must be very upset with the fake Christian Right.
@SpockResists I’m with you, it’s not logical

@SpockResists

I fear a deep misunderstanding of the life force that all humans feel. The word 'fear' is merely a mistranslation and is closer to 'respect'. Had we done that as so-called 'primative' people do, we wouldn't be in this ecological horror show now.

(I can't speak for people who believe in an anthropomorphic deity... never understood them)

@SpockResists hey Spock! Nice to see you on here, I think you’ll like it. I’m not remotely missing the bird site 😊
@SpockResists I understand why you would say this because that's what a lot of Christians communicate but this is what our deity says: "These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full." John 15:11
@SpockResists i would’ve ended that sentence sooner.
@SpockResists Supplication to curry favor.
@SpockResists if spock drank a beer he would instantly die
